MICHIGAN vacation -Aug 13th to Aug 20th --DETROIT PART

We took our vacation up in Michigan this year. Yes! Rick actually took a week off work?! Yay.

First, we started our trip off in the Detroit area with all of Rick's family. We stayed in his Mom/Dad's practically brand new home in Sterling Heights, a suburb of Detroit. Will had a blast with his cousins, Ethan (9 yrs) and Ava (5 yrs). And they sure took to him. Ava was like a little Mommy to Will, taking care of him every step of the way. The first night, we went to dinner at Rick's Mom's favorite Italian restaurant called Andiamo's where we snapped this picture. Will looks afraid in this picture because he was afraid. It was about to downpour and there was alot of thunder and lightening. For whatever reason, Will is afraid of thunder. Regardless, it was a fun night reconnecting with our family.

We had a pool date scheduled for Sunday but we were rained out. But that was okay because I think we had a better time at Scott/Melissa/Ethan/Ava's house. We had dinner, drinks and play. It was so much fun! Here, we took a long time overdue family photo. I have this one up in my house. :)

On Monday, we celebrated by going to the Detroit Tigers/Minnesota Twins game. I was on the fence on who to route for... since I am a fan of both. I had to decide which team to wear to the game. Well, I picked the Detroit Tigers for RICK because we were at his home and he's such a huge fan. My family who joined us for the game, all wore TWINS. Julie was in town from MN too. Well, guess what? The Twins won that night! Crazy. Here we are before we left for the game. Mom Turek stayed back this one time to watch Will so we could enjoy the game. Normally, she is right there with us.

And here we are ... meeting my family at Comerica Park. They drove in for the game from Kalamazoo.

My family stayed over in a hotel so they could bring us back to Pine Lake the next day. We all met for breakfast where we had a wonderful meal --both sides of family. There, Will received some birthday gifts from his cousins and one of his all time favorite things is a stuffed Brobee character. Brobee is from the show Yo Gabba Gabba. Will hauls Brobee all over the house. A few times he's even slept with Brobee. :) Thanks TUREK family for everything! We had a blast.
