Stuck in Minnesota!

Had a flight back home yesterday to Charlotte from Duluth but we were grounded both yesterday and today due to the massive winter storm which clipped the south. We received about 10 inches and ice which pretty much shut down EVERYTHING. We just aren't equipped to handle that in NC. :)

On a side note, the temps rose in MN from below zero to a balmy 20 degrees! And it snowed all day. So we made the most of it. I couldn't get Will out of the snow to come in! And he was hot. His hands and feet were hot. And mine were cold. Go figure.

Swimming lessons at the YMCA

Today marked our second swimming lesson. Will is doing great! I skipped level 1 lesson (no experience necessary) completely and entered him in level 2. I am hoping for swimming with no "bubble" by the end! The "bubble" is foam pad boards which give him some floating help. Once he's getting the hang of things, we remove one board at a time until they are gone. The bubble looks like this:

We started with four boards as shown above (first lesson).

Today we moved to three foam boards:

Also today, we learned to hold our face under water. Will completed 4 seconds.

And we floated on our back with no bubble:

And last, we swam with a support tool:

Great job Will!

"Blankie"

When Will was born, the suggestion was to lay babies on their backs only with no blankets. I couldn't think of sleeping without a blanket so I choose to give Will a homemade afghan with lots of holes in it. This is not the exact one he started with because he outgrew the baby one. He's been using this one for at least a couple years if not three. He calls it his "Blankie."  He sure does love his Blankie as its hauled everywhere with him, kind of like Linus.

He brings it to me at least once a day and asks me to sniff it. Then he smiles and says, "Mmm. Smells good."  Or, "Doesn't it smell good Mommy?"

I'm glad I have nice smelling laundry. Thanks Mom! :)

SKEE- December 24th, 2013

It's the last day for SKEE to arrive inside our home. He flies back to the North Pile tonight to start making toys for next year... Will is going to miss him each morning.

He's also going to miss eating a piece of chocolate from the Advent Calendar each morning. He is usually eating chocolate within one minute of waking up! Ha.

And this advent calendar, he moves the candy cane for Christmas countdown.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Today I made a Ginger Bread House :)

Today, Will made his first ever Ginger Bread House at the neighbors. My neighbor Kate made the molds from scratch, including royal icing (glue). He had a blast! Can I tell you that he was the last one at the table decorating between four other girls?? Wow. Shocker.

Holiday Program

Wills school put on a holiday program tonight. Each class in the school sang two to three songs each.

Our class sang:
1) Feliz Navidad
2) Rockin Around The Christmas Tree
3) Holly Jolly Christmas

All the classes did great! But especially Will :).

Ps his tie WAS tucked in when I dropped him off... LOL. He couldn't stop playing with it while on stage ;)

SKEE - Hello Will. I'm back!

Wills elf, SKEE is back from the North Pole. He arrived in the middle of the night last night with a note, "Hi Will. I'm back! Love, SKEE.

I video taped Will this morning when he saw him for first time. He was SO EXCITED!

They have an elf named George in his classroom too who moved around each night.

Elf on a Shelf is fun!!

Happy Halloween!!

What can I say. Will was WAY INTO Halloween this year. We brought the wagon as we have done in years past for him to ride in when he's tired. Well, he didn't ride in the wagon AT ALL. (Other neighbor kids did though!). He ran from house to house. Fast. I couldn't even talk to the neighbors as they came to the door and he was off. He was all about looking for houses that had their porch lights on. He learned that new this year. We walked the neighborhood with the Phillips family and Pickels family.

It was in the low 70s on this day --it was beautiful.

From 4:30pm to 6:30pm, our neighbor Susan Weir has a block party for the entire neighborhood of Sailpoint. Pizza is served and each family brings a dish to pass. Good times were had by all!

Will was so tired when we got home. He ran around for almost two hours of treating. After he dumps out his candy he says, "MY BELLY HURTS." Well you would think he said that from eating too much candy. But so you know, he didn't actually eat one piece all night. I said, why does your belly hurt? He says, "I'M SO HUNGRY." With that, I made him breakfast at 9pm. Then he sacked out :)

Happy Halloween from the Tureks

Will and his BFF Micayla

All the kids in the neighborhood at the block party

Even the adults dress up for the party!!

And guess who won best adult female this year?? Yours truly.
Time to go trick or treating!! We left our candy out since we walked around as a family. I made 40 treat bags. They were gone when we got home.

The Loot. I was surprised to see all the snacks this year like pretzels, doritos and cheese nips.
