Playa del Carmen, Mexico

We attended a wedding in Playa del Carmen in Mexico. We fly direct from Charlotte to Cancun, only 2:25 hours in air. Then, we shuttle 45 mins from the Cancun airport to the five star, adults only resort. Because of this, Will stayed home with Grammy and Papa Johnson at our house and the two dogs, Baylie and Rubie. They had a BALL together while Mommy and Daddy played in fun & sun.

I must say, this was the best wedding we've ever attended. I don't know if the 88 degree, no rain, all inclusive (drinks and food included) and several of our good friends being there with us, had anything to do with it! :) I've never had the chance to go to a wedding from beginning to end, barefoot and it was fabulous. What girl really likes high heels anyway?! I actually went from our room down to the beach wedding in heels. The heels came off the moment I hit the sand and never went back on my feet. The wedding was on the beach, then we went to the grassy pool area for the cocktail hour, which included a girl hand rolling cigars and a mariachi band and then back to the beach for dinner and dancing. The light up dance floor, right next to the ocean and the biggest moon in history was the huge hits of the night. All I can say is WOW.

I was so afraid of the water with all the horror stories you hear about Mexico. There was an endless supply of water bottles at this resort... everywhere. We brushed our teeth with water bottles too, just to be safe. I was chalking up to drinking beer my entire trip to avoid ice and slushy drinks. That lasted about 2 hours. Everyone at the resort was having drinks with ice. We found out that the ice was filtered there. I was then leery about drinking coffee (water) and then I saw people all over drinking coffee. They even had a coffee shop full of lattes, espresso, desserts etc. It was so fun! I like my coffee eh. I'm a three cup drinker every morning. Oh yah. Rick is trying to convert to coffee too. He's never liked it. He's a Mountain Dew drinker (now diet) but wants to convert. I think it would be fun to drink coffee with him in the morning.

Highlights of the trip:

1) Cancun airport was INSANE. No organization and people were everywhere all trying to get to one place. It was a mob scene.
2) Weather was HOT. It hit you in the face the moment you walked outside. About 88 degrees the entire time we were there: Fri to Tues.
3) Resort was definitely a five star. We would 100% go back to THE ROYAL, all inclusive.
4) Water was aqua-blue-green. It was tropical. This area is known as the Mexican Riviera
5) Playacrawl did our bar crawl on Sat night. (The night before the wedding!). This was a super fun night. We danced like maniacs. The $65 fee included covers into three clubs and all you wanted to drink.
6) Fifth Ave is the main drag located right outside our hotel. This is all kinds of shops and clubs. Everything is negotiable in Mexico.
7) Biggest moon in history was the night of the wedding! So fun. Lotsa fun pictures.
9) We upgraded to first class on the way there along with Chris & Anna.
10) We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with each other and our friends. Had a blast!
