Will's height prediction

So I've heard that if you double the amount in inches when your child is two, it's a good indicator on how tall they will be as an adult. I have NO IDEA if this is accurate, so I'm going to keep track just for kicks and giggles.

At two years old, Will is 34.5 inches long. He weighs 27.0 pounds.

If I do this calculation and double his inches, that will make him 69 inches, which is 5'9".

However, there is a height predictor online and when I punch in my height (5'5") and Rick's height (5'11"), it says that Will is going to be 5'10". http://www.babycenter.com/child-height-predictor

Based on the formula I used, there is a 50 percent chance that your boy's full-grown height will be within 0.8 inches (above or below) of this prediction, and a 90 percent chance that it will be within 2.1 inches.

WebMd says Will is going to be 5'11": http://children.webmd.com/healthtool-kids-height-predictor

There's no proven way to predict a child's adult height. However, several formulas can provide a reasonable guess for child growth. Here's a popular example:
  1. Add the mother's height and the father's height in either inches or centimeters.
  2. Add 5 inches (13 centimeters) for boys or subtract 5 inches (13 centimeters) for girls.
  3. Divide by two.
  • Most children will reach an adult height within 4 inches (10 centimeters) of this estimation.
  • Another way to estimate a child's adult height is to double his or her height at age 2.
  • Remember, a child's height is controlled by genetics. It's also important to note that children grow at different rates. Some children begin their growth phases early, while others are late bloomers.

In this case, Will is going to be 5'10 1/2 inches.

Hmmm. Makes ya wonder huh?

So I think we are safe to say he's going to be somewhere between 5'9" and 5'11". HA!
